Bardwell F.C. Policies

Codes of Conduct

Bardwell F.C. is a community organisation dedicated to providing children and adults with the opportunity to learn and play competitive football in a fun and stimulating environment.

To ensure that Players, Parents / Supporters and Match Officials enjoy the experience at Bardwell F.C. the club has formal codes of conduct for all 3 groups that outline what the club expects from them during the season and especially on match days and also what they can expect from the club in return.

Bardwell F.C. fully supports the FA RESPECT campaign will deploy RESPECT Barriers for all home games for all age groups junior and senior.  The club asks that ALL supporters both home and away should stand on the side of the field where the RESPECT barriers and in place and stay at all times behind the barrier.  Coaches and substitutes should take up position in the opposite side of the field.  This not only helps referees and players by preventing pitch incursion by supporters trying to get a better view downfield but also helps players by having the  coaching staff on one side making coaching instructions clearer away from the well meaning but often conflicting advice from supporters!

The Club urges all players and parents to take a look at the video clips at the FA website www.thefa.com/respectguide.

Coaching Standards

As a FA Charter Standard club, Bardwell F.C. ensures that ALL coaches are taken through the minimum FA Level 1 training course.

These courses, run a number of times a year in the Oxfordshire region, are paid for by the club and any new coaches that join the club are encouraged to do the Level 1 course as soon as possible.  We are lucky enough to also have a number of coaches qualified at Level 2 and above at the club and this ensures that the standard of coaching that can be provided to players of all ages is the best possible.

Match Officials

Everyone will have heard in the media that something like 7000 qualified referees quit each year mainly due to the abuse directed at them from players, coaches and supporters.

Every year new referees are recruited but the number coming in is less than the number going out. As a result there are fewer referees to officiate at league matches and age often takes preference in the allocation of referees to matches.  This means that the younger age groups often don't have a referee and the games rely on a parent from the home team volunteering to "give it a go".  As you can guess - sometimes this causes problems!

Bardwell F.C. is committed to trying to work with the regional FA and regional Referees Associations by funding some parents through an official FA Referee Training course.  Some parents just do it to officiate for their own home games but others have been known to "get the bug" and referee other games by registering with the many leagues in our district.

Not only do the younger kids like having a properly kitted out "man-in-the-middle" but from a club perspective and child development perspective it helps get the respect that all officials need at a really early age.

So if you don't fancy coaching but do want to be involved why not try refereeing?  If you are interested then email info@bardwellfc.com.

Child Welfare

Child Protection and Child Welfare is of paramount importance at the club.

It is mandatory that ALL of our Coaching Staff and Club Match Officials are CRB checked and their CRB clearances kept up to date.

The club holds these records for all staff who have contact with children through the execution of their duties.  We have 2 Child Welfare Officers and more detail on this can be found in the Children & Parents section.
